This Privacy Policy describes how DMV Test Prep ("we", "us", or "our"), developed by ZediApps, handles information when you use the DMV Test Prep mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Locally Stored Data

The App stores the following data locally on your device:

  • Study progress - practice test scores, completed questions, mock exam results
  • App preferences - selected state, vehicle type, exam date, theme
  • AI chat history - conversations with the AI study assistant
  • Onboarding selections - your state, vehicle type, and exam date choices

This data is stored entirely on your device and is never uploaded to any server.

1.2 Camera Access

The App requests camera access for the Live Sign Scanner feature. Camera data is:

  • Used only when you actively open the sign scanner
  • Processed by AI to identify traffic signs
  • Never stored, recorded, or transmitted beyond the AI identification request

1.3 No User Accounts

The App does not require or offer user accounts. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information (PII).

2. AI Features

2.1 AI Study Assistant

The AI chat feature sends your questions to third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Google, or Anthropic) to generate answers. These requests:

  • Contain only the text of your driving-related question
  • Do not include any personal information, device identifiers, or location data
  • Are subject to the respective AI provider's data handling policies

2.2 Live Sign Scanner

When you use the camera sign scanner, a photo of the traffic sign is sent to an AI provider for identification. The image is:

  • Used solely for sign identification purposes
  • Not stored by us after processing
  • Subject to the AI provider's data retention policies

4. Advertising & Ad Tracking

The free version of the App displays advertisements through Google AdMob.

  • iOS: The App requests your consent through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before any ad tracking occurs.
  • You can change ad tracking permissions at any time in your device settings.

GDPR Consent (EEA/UK)

For users in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom, the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain consent for ad personalization in compliance with GDPR.

5. Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used and improve the experience. Analytics data is fully anonymous and aggregated. No personally identifiable information is collected.

6. Test Question Database

The App includes a bundled database of DMV practice questions. This database is:

  • Stored locally on your device
  • Not connected to any external server for question content
  • Updated only through App Store updates

7. Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

  • You can reset your progress within the App at any time
  • You can delete all App data by uninstalling the App
  • No data remains on any server after deletion since we do not store your data remotely

8. Children's Privacy

The App is rated 4+ and is designed for users preparing for a driver's permit or license. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App does not require any personal information to function.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
